Casino Road Kids Ministries:
I’ve been blessed by my interactions with the elementary age children and the volunteers at the Casino Road Ministry (a homework time and Bible club located at Horizon Elementary School). Kathy and I along with Tasha, Ava and Adam have intentionally spent quality time each week with the 20-35 wonderful kids that live in the Casino Road area of Everett and attend the ongoing homework and bible clubs. We help the kids with homework, and bring in some fruit for the kid’s dinner time. Between homework and Bible club there’s a free time as kids move from one club to another. This is where relationships form. I bring my ukulele, harmonica and other instruments and “jam” with various kids during their free time. I’ve also been asked to teach and Bible lesson to the kids in November.
Most of the kids are low income and/or part of the foster system. They are wonderful children who really appreciate the interactions they have with the volunteers. The other day, a couple of the kids ran up to Kathy before she left and pleaded for her to stay, “Please don’t leave!” the young girl asked.
If you want to get involved with this ministry talk to Kathy or myself. We’ll point you in the right direction. You can always pray for Tyrone (the ministry founder and leader), the present kids, future kids, and volunteers.
Here are areas I could use help, if you have the available time, please contact me.

Our meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 7pm to discuss how to tangibly support local ministries was productive and yet low attended for various reasons. Kathy, Kelly and Pat were in attendance.
Here are the notes.
Pat Gary will help lead Angel Tree for the church. We will be setting up promotion in the foyer the beginning of November 1 til mid December. Through this program the church will sponsor 30 inmates children who live in our area. A gift of $20 per child keeping an equality among gifts. These gifts are to be delivered to the children a week before Christmas. A goal with Angel Tree is to build relationships with the children and their families connecting them with the church, if so desired. A free bible is offered to the children in English or Spanish as requested.
We read an article and discussed how to help the homeless in Snohomish County in Monroe and Everett. These are short videos we watched discussing challenges in helping. A conclusion was to start a place in the church for people to donate socks, hats, and gloves. It was agreed this can be done anytime. There are more homeless arriving at the church during the week. Kathy has wondered if a emergency backpack for those who are in need including a brochure with local resources.

What is unlawful camping?
Everett Municipal Code 8.56.010 states it is unlawful for any person to camp in a park, on a street or in any publicly owned area or parking lot. “Camp” means to pitch, use, or occupy camp facilities for the purposes of habitation, as supported by camp paraphernalia which includes, but is not limited to, tarpaulins, cots, beds, sleeping bags, blankets, mattresses, hammocks or cooking facilities and equipment
Kelly spoke of the environment around the mission near the train station.
Delta Rehab has is opening a traditional Christmas Party for the community families on Sunday, Dec. 8 at noon. All people who are interested please contact Kelly.
Casino Kids Ministry run by Tyrone is a strong ministry where he offers homework help followed by a bible club. Kelly, Kathy have decided to support this ministry. Tasha and Ava came to visit last week.
Hand in Hand ministry Kathy would like to discuss connecting Busy Bees to make hats for kids going into the foster system with someone to be a connection between the church and Hand in Hand.
We discussed the importance to include our children in the church to serve in the community. We agreed to wait til other mothers are in the meeting to further this discussion.
Next Meeting: November 6 at 7 pm
"Sharing the Gospel"
I'd like to discuss at this meeting a possible change of meeting dates to Sundays, monthly, during first service during the school year. This works better for Kelly and Kathy too.
