Our meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 7pm to discuss how to tangibly support local ministries was productive and yet low attended for various reasons. Kathy, Kelly and Pat were in attendance.
Here are the notes.
Pat Gary will help lead Angel Tree for the church. We will be setting up promotion in the foyer the beginning of November 1 til mid December. Through this program the church will sponsor 30 inmates children who live in our area. A gift of $20 per child keeping an equality among gifts. These gifts are to be delivered to the children a week before Christmas. A goal with Angel Tree is to build relationships with the children and their families connecting them with the church, if so desired. A free bible is offered to the children in English or Spanish as requested.
We read an article and discussed how to help the homeless in Snohomish County in Monroe and Everett. These are short videos we watched discussing challenges in helping. A conclusion was to start a place in the church for people to donate socks, hats, and gloves. It was agreed this can be done anytime. There are more homeless arriving at the church during the week. Kathy has wondered if a emergency backpack for those who are in need including a brochure with local resources.
